You know, when I look at the current situation going on in Iraq, and see the screwed up mess that our leaders have created; it occurs to me that the Iraqi people have a great opportunity, although, it was created somewhat inelegantly.
I would ask the Iraqi people to take a look at the history of their ancestors and see what the great Babylonian empire created. Astronomy, mathematics, astrology, code of laws. Pretty much everything associated with civilization or being civilized. In fact, many of our current units of measurement are from that empire, the 12 inches in a foot, 12 hours in a day, 12 lunar months. Its called the duodecimal system by the way, base twelve, great for calculating large numbers. These are great contributions to the whole world.
The bottom line is this. I don’t care what nationality someone is, everyone wants the same things. They want to be able to go about their lives, get married, raise their children and live in peace. So come on Iraq, remember your former glory, stop squabbling like a bunch of jackals fighting over who is going to get the best teat, and create a country that you can be proud of.
